Ten Friends Financials

By the Numbers

For those of you who are interested in financials and how donations were spent, here are some numerical ways of looking at Ten Friends during 2025.

Revenue (how much support was generated in 2025?)

Ten Friends raised a total of $149,604 from a wide variety of sources – individual and corporate donations, foundations, fundraising events, trips to Nepal, bottle drop proceeds, investment income, and merchandise sales. This is by far the most we have ever raised and is testament to the value of our work and strong support of the community. Thank you!

Expenses (how was this money spent?

  • We 100% supported a 20-child orphanage in Bhaktapur (HHO) – covering rent on a 3-story building, food, clothing, tuition, uniforms, expenses for one student in college, FT Executive Director, PT Asst Director, PT Development Director, and two cooks ($34,686)
  • We 95% supported a 12-girl boarding hostel in Khandbari (HEC) – covering food, clothing, farming supplies and equipment, college tuition for three girls, FT Director, and PT Assistant ($26,893)
  • We helped HEC build a new retaining wall ($5,000) and a new roof ($5,000) and to start construction on a new 2-story building (full cost will be ~$45,000) and a new kitchen (full cost will be ~$15,000)
  • We supported the village of Tilahi with a medical clinic and school clothing and supplies ($6,598)

  • We provided computers, desks, tables/chairs and classroom materials to two Nepali schools ($7,861)
  • We supported 8 Central Oregon residents to travel to Nepal (including 4 high school students), and visit our projects/partners and experience the magic of Nepal ($30,933)
  • We provided smaller amounts to support a number of orphanages and disabled service centers and individuals in need (~$5,000)

Cost-efficient Programming

Because Ten Friends has no paid staff, our total admin expenses – accounting, website fees, bank charges, D&O insurance, postage, etc - totaled only $10,521. This represents an “overhead/admin” of 7% which is almost unheard of in the nonprofit industry! Nearly all of your tax-deductible donation goes directly to supported programs. We rely entirely on volunteers and have no employee/staff expenses in the United States. We do pay stipends to our Nepal-based program operators which are reflected in the project costs.  We do not spend funds on marketing except for event promotions.
